How to build a blanket fort for kids

Running out of ideas for the little ones this half term? Why not build a blanket fort? It's fun and free from the comfort of your home!

You will need:

At least two blankets / bed sheets (depending on the size of the fort)

Clothes pegs

Cushions / pillows

Toys / stuffed animals (to decorate the interior)

Two chairs / clothes horses (something to support the blankets)

What kind of fort?

Ask your kids what kind of fort would they like to build? Will this be a regal fort or secret hide out base? Maybe a seaside home? 

How to build

Building is simple, drape the blankets / sheets across the top of your supports (chairs/clothes horse/etc) and use the pegs to secure it.

  Make sure whatever you use to support the blankets will not topple as this could cause harm to your child.

Fort Floor

If you have hardflloor rather than carpet, you can put pillows and blankets down to make a cosy soft floor! This will also keep the fort nice and warm!

Decorate!

Don't forget to decorate, add toys and stuffed animals keep it fun! This should keep the children entertained for hours!
